Title: Machine Assembler / Field Service Technician (permanent/full-time)

In 2016, Palmer Manufacturing & Supply purchased Klein Palmer Inc., a leading manufacturer of pneumatic conveying systems and special process equipment for the foundry industry. This company is growing both domestically and internationally and is searching for a qualified candidate to fill our Machine Assembler / Field Service Technician position. Authorization to work in the USA is required. Relocation is not available. 20% travel with some overnights required. Most have a current passport as International travel may be required.

Description:
The position is part of a team responsible for the in-house assembly of equipment and service at customer locations. During on-site service visits, this person will provide startup service and troubleshoot to diagnose and provide solutions to repair equipment. The successful candidate will have a strong mechanical background and enjoy assembly of equipment and solving mechanical and programming equipment problems.

Position responsibilities:

• Machine Assembly: assembly of mechanical, pneumatic and electrical machine components including piping and wiring based on shop drawings using electric or hand tools as required.
• Electrical Machine Controls: knowledge of machine controls and ability to wire and calibrate control devices using shop drawings and manufacturer’s instructions
• PLC programming and troubleshooting using Allen Bradley RSLogix platforms.
• Field Service: travel, sometimes on short notice, to service customers’ need including startup or repair of equipment. Travel from 2 days to 1 week are common to customers plants in US, Canada, Mexico, and South America.

Qualifications:

• Design Associates degree or tech school certificate, or 1-2 years manufacturing assembly experience required.
• Demonstrated strong mechanical aptitude and PLC controls knowledge required.
• Industrial machine shop or industrial manufacturing experience required.
• Ability to work independently and/or with limited supervision required.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively work with our domestic and international customers is a must.
